It has been way too long since I've opened my web browser and logged into this blog. Time got away from me and I lost all motivation to come up with new content to blog about. I didn't just lose motivation when it came to my blog, I kind of lost motivation in my everyday life. I suffered some serious January blues after my last blog post and allowed myself to start my year off in a funk and didn't enjoy 2015 as much as I would have liked. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of great memories last year, but when you aren't feeling your best, you tend to feel like you aren't living life to its fullest potential. But I'm happy to say that I've come full circle from last year and I am motivated and ready to make this year a great one!
Getting Out of Bed
can honestly be one of the hardest parts of the day. On days when I didn't have anywhere to be I would sleep in way too late and lay in bed for an extra hour or two scrolling through social media on my phone. I realized in order to have a productive day I needed to wake up earlier and to enjoy my mornings instead of sleeping them away. I made myself follow a rule of not checking my phone until I was out of bed. This may seem simple, but it really kept me from laying in bed aimlessly scrolling and wasting a few hours a day. And sadly, it drives me crazy not knowing what those late night snap chats are of, so it really does force me out of bed. Breakfast is seriously my favorite meal of the day and there's something about eating it before 10 am that makes it taste even better. I'm always sure to have delicious breakfast food and coffee to motivate me to make it into the kitchen at a decent hour.
Making Small Lists
everyday really helps me plan out my days in to-do list form. I try not to overwhelm myself with unrealistic goals for the day, so I keep the lists fairly short. That way you aren't setting yourself up to fail before your day even begins. There's a quote that I love that goes "people often overestimate what they can do in a day, but underestimate what they can do in a year" Ticking off all of the check marks that day is so satisfying. I love making lists in cute notepads and I recently found a few inexpensive ones from Target that I absolutely adore. I also found the matching pens which made me a lot happier than I should have been.
Working in a Clean Space
keeps me form procrastinating on things I really need to get done. If I need to write a paper but there are dirty dishes in the sink, I'll most likely do the dishes then clean the counter top and before I know it the entire kitchen is clean and my paper is no where near started. So, I either make sure I keep my apartment tidy, or I go to the library or a coffee shop where I'm not distracted by any messes around me.
Decorate Your Work Space
with motivational quotes that inspire you. Print them out and place them in a frame or write them on a chalkboard. Not only are the cute, but they'll act as a constant reminder that as long as you are doing your best, you'll be successful.
I really hope I was able to inspire you with this post and I can't wait to start writing my next post!
Let me know if there's anything you would like me to blog about.
